Warm and dry conditions persist; changes late next week

Breezy offshore winds are set to continue this morning. Windier conditions, with sustained gusts between 20-30 mph and peak gusts near 50 mph, are still off to the west. A Wind Advisory will remain in effect for local mountains, the San Gorgonio Pass, North Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs through 4 p.m. when winds begin to weaken.

Warm and dry conditions will persist early next week. Temperatures are expected to stay 5°-10 ° above the seasonal average (71 °) through Wednesday.

Changes are ahead by the middle of the week with the arrival of a low pressure system off the Pacific. Cloudier skies, cooler temperatures and more moisture is expected by Wednesday. Late overnight showers are possible heading into Thursday morning.

Thursday and Friday look to be the best opportunity for widespread rainfall in the valley. Scattered showers are more likely for Saturday and Sunday. Stay with the First Alert Weather Team as we continue to gather data regarding the timing of the incoming rainfall and accumulation.

This is a cold system meaning more snow is on the way for local mountain communities. At this time, it appears that snow levels will drop from 6,000-6,500 ft. on Thursday to 4,000-4,500 ft. by Friday.
