Mild weekend continues, showers arrive midweek
Temperatures have shot into the upper 70s this weekend, and conditions remain dry around the desert. That changes in the days to come. A couple waves of moisture are set to impact the state through the middle of next week. It's unlikely we'll see more than a few tenths of an inch of rainfall accumulation in the Coachella Valley, but higher amounts are expected to the west and in the mountains.
A Flood Watch has been issued starting Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. This stretches through the San Gorgonio Pass to include North Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs.
Since temperatures are warmer, any additional snow in the mountains will be wetter. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for challenging travel conditions expected from the overnight hours of Monday to Tuesday through early Wednesday morning.
While there currently is no Wind Advisory in place, gusty conditions are possible as low pressure arrives from Tuesday to Wednesday. Following the wet weather locally, temperatures rebound to the mid 70s by the weekend.
