City of Palm Desert host Emergency Readiness Expo event

The City of Palm Desert hosted an Emergency Readiness Expo for Coachella Valley families Wednesday at the Palm Desert Library.

According to FEMA, nearly half of Americans say they aren't prepared for a disaster.

The community event aimed to help residents prepare for emergencies and become knowledgeable of local resources and safety practices.

The Expo showcased a variety of vendors and exhibits, including fire crew, water and electric personnel. The Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network which featured a presentation on what to include in your disaster kits.

The most important items to include:

  • water
  • first aid
  • flashlights
  • batteries
