Widespread rain returns to the Coachella Valley Wednesday
Some showers will be possible by late Tuesday night.
Temperatures will be closer to normal again heading into Tuesday. Then, an area of low pressure and cold front will drop temperatures and bring back rain to Southern California. Isolated showers will be possible by late Tuesday night. Widespread showers are expected to begin during the overnight hours going into Wednesday and are expected to last throughout the day.
The desert is expecting mostly less than 0.5" of rainfall. At times, there could be bursts of moderate to heavy rainfall leading to street flooding in some flood-prone regions. The mountains are looking at 1"-2.5" of rainfall with snow elevations above 7000 feet.
Before the cold front arrives overnight into Wednesday there will be areas of gusty winds for the desert and mountains. Southerly winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
Drier conditions move in by Thursday and Friday. Temperatures on Wednesday will drop back into the lower 60's.
