Residents seek improvements for local animal shelter

Some local residents would like to see improvements at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms. A forum was held Wednesday night at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The forum was moderated by the Palm Springs-based group ‘Advancing the Interests of Animals‘. The discussion featured speeches from a number of guests, including representatives from San Antonio, who explained how they transformed their shelter in a matter of years.

Volunteers were a main focus for many in attendance.

“I think we need to improve the volunteer section of the shelter,” said Tabitha Davies with the Coachella Valley Dog Club. “Both how the shelter works with volunteers and how the volunteers are able to get education to empower themselves to really help make a difference in the community.”

The Coachella Valley Animal Campus is located at 72050 Petland Place, Thousand Palms.
