One person injured in crash near Cabazon

One person was injured in a crash on Interstate Ten near Cabazon on Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, just before 1:30 p.m. for some unknown reason, 51-year old Efrain Meza, from Desert Hot Springs steered his Ford Expedition into the back of a big rig truck that was parked on the side of the freeway The big rig driver apparently had stopped to check his load while traveling Eastbound near Main Street.

Meza had to be cut from the wreckage and was transported to Desert Regional with moderate injuries, per Cal Fire. The driver of the big rig was not injured.

All Eastbound lanes were shut down for about a half hour, until they were able to open a couple of lanes to move traffic along. The exact cause of the accident is still being investigated.
