Coroner identifies man who died in motorcycle crash

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified a La Quinta man who died Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Rancho Mirage.

Authorities said 23-year-old Ricardo Hernandez died after crashing on Gerald Ford Drive near Monterey Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. Officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Gerald Ford Drive was shut down for about four hours between Monterey Avenue and Bob Hope Drive while authorities were on scene investigating Thursday night. The road was reopened at about 8:45 p.m.
