Cop Accused Of Stripping On A Call Fired From Force
Amid allegations that he stripped off his police uniform and got into a pool naked while investigating a noise complaint, John Fox. Jr. was fired from the Cathedral City Police Department on Monday.
News Channel 3’s Mike Daniels received a note from Lt. Chuck Robinson on Tuesday that stated simply: “As of yesterday, John Fox is no longer employed with Cathedral City Police Department. As the details of his employment status are the result of a personnel matter, I am unable to tell you why he is not longer employed.”
Fox faces charges of assault under the color of authority and attempted sexual penetration — both felonies — and misdemeanor indecent exposure and sexual battery.
The charges stem from an incident at the end of September when a homeowner said he had to call 911 to get Fox out of his back yard swimming pool.
He said the officer arrived at the house just before 4 a.m. on a Wednesday after police received a report of a loud noise coming form the back yard. Cathedral City Police call logs confirm the time.
Fox then made his way to the pool, where he took off all of his clothes, and got into the pool with two women. One of the women claims he touched her inappropriately.
The homeowner said he didn’t know what to do. He got out his cell phone and started taking pictures.
A Riverside County District Attorney investigator took the cell phone as evidence along with three towels the women were using.
The Cathedral City Police Department contacted the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office to conduct a criminal investigation.
Fox now faces those criminal charges and presumably, faces the task of finding another job since this case presumably cost him his current position at the Cathedral City Police Department.
