Increasing GPA For Cal Grants

College students in California who receive grants, may have to study a little harder to keep getting financial aid from the state.

Governor Brown is now trying to increase the minimum GPA requirement for Cal Grant “A” recipients from 3.0, to 3.25.

Cal Grant currently covers more than $5,000 at California State Universities and up to about $12,000 at University of California schools.

The minimum GPA for Cal Grant “B” recipients would be raised from 2.0 to 2.75.

Cal Grant “B” is for low-income students, typically attending community colleges.
