Pedestrian Killed In Indio

A woman was struck by a motorcyclist and then another on-coming car in Indio on Thursday while crossing Indio Boulevard, according to Ben Guitron, of the Indio Police Department.

The woman died on scene, Guitron said.

The accident happened just before 8 p.m. on the North side of Indio Boulevard between Biskra Street and Arabia Street.

Police said the area would be closed down at least through 2 a.m. Friday morning.

The motorcyclist was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said after the motorcyclist hit the victim, a black Ford Taurus traveling westbound on Indio Blvd struck the victim for a second time.

The driver was not cited.

The Riverside County Coroner was called to the accident as was the forensics department.

The victim’s name was not released.
