Chalk Event Promotes Art

A Palm Springs parking lot was transformed into art Saturday with a lot of chalk.

Professional artists and kids of all ages created chalk art on the Smoke Tree Commons parking lot.

The Palm Springs Sunup Rotary Club partnered with the Palm Springs Art Commission to put on the Second Annual “Chalk Walk,” aimed to promote creativity and art.

The event included entertainment, food and an interactive kid’s art zone — all while using a unique form of art.

“A lot of people think of art with oil or watercolor. Chalk is a little bit different. It’s a little bit more forgiving. As you can see, you can blend a lot more,” Kevin Taylor of the Chalk Walk organizing committee said.

The event raised money for K-12 art programs in the Palm Springs Unified School District.
