Lambert killer to spend life in prison
The Northern California man convicted in the financially motivated murder of a Palm Springs retiree is going to prison, for life. Kaushal Niroula was sentenced Friday morning to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.
Niroula was convicted in September of stabbing 74-year-old Clifford Lambert, in December of 2008.
He was the last of six defendants to be prosecuted in the case.
The other 5 were convicted or pleaded guilty.
Today in court, Niroula prolonged his sentencing by asking a lot of questions.
When his sentence was finally handed down, people in the courtroom showed their approval.
Deputy District Attorney Lisa DiMaria says, “Applause. It was appropriate. As you saw, he is a manipulative con artist, right up to the very end.”
Niroula is headed to Delano state prison. He has 60 days to appeal his sentence.
