Men steal car at gunpoint in DHS

Two armed men stole a car and other items atgunpoint in South Desert Hot Springs early Friday morning, a sheriff’s sergeantsaid.

The robbery was reported at 3:20 a.m. at a residence in the 17000 blockof Mountain View Road. The residents were outside when the suspects approached,brandished firearms and ordered them inside, then took a Hyundai Elantra andother items, sheriff’s Sgt. Tom Brewster said.

The suspects left in the stolen car, which was found abandoned a shorttime later near Long Canyon Road and 18th Avenue. No one was hurt, Brewstersaid.

One suspect was described as a white man 35 to 45 years old, about 6feet 2 inches tall and 220 pounds, with short brown hair, a mustache. He wore awhite dress shirt, black pants and a dark tie and held a semiautomatic handgun.

The second suspect was described as a white man 35 to 45 years old,about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 220 pounds, with short brown hair and, like theother suspect, wearing a white dress shirt, black pants and dark tie. He alsocarried a handgun.
