One dead after fire breaks out in DHS

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow on thebody of a woman found dead at the scene of a fire at an abandoned Desert HotSprings residence, authorities said.

The blaze was reported around 8:30 a.m. today at a boarded-up, 800-square-foot home in the 66200 block of Pierson Boulevard. The blaze wascontained 15 minutes later, Riverside County Fire Department spokesman MarkAnnas said.

The woman’s city of residence was unknown, and her name was withheldpending family notification, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Sechristsaid. He said an autopsy was scheduled for tomorrow.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Annas said.
