Man leads cops on chase after stealing car during test drive
A man stole a car during a test drive this morning in Rancho Mirage, leading to a high speed pursuit that ended in Burmuda Dunes, according to the Riverside CountySheriff’sOffice.
The suspect took the car, a 2011 Chevy Malibu, near the area of Palm Springs Motors. How he managed to carjack the vehicle during the test drive was not immediately known.
Authorities spotted the car a short time later and pursued the car, reaching speeds of nearly 100 MPH at some points.
The pursuit ended at around 11:45 a.m. when the car crashed at Avenue 42 and Jefferson. The driver ran from the car, but was later apprehended.
Police say no suspects are outstanding. No injuries have been reported.
