Ribbon cutting ceremony on new College of the Desert east valley campus held today
Local officials will cut the ribbon today on College of the Desert’s Indio campus, which opened for classes Monday.
The three-story, 40,000-square-foot building has 14 classrooms and a wet lab and offers more than 60 course sections in 24 subjects, including an associate’s degree program, English as a Second Language and Adult Basic Education.
The building also has administration offices and retail space.
Courses at the new building had been previously taught in rented space in Indio, according to COD.
Construction of the $22 million campus, which started in fall 2012, was funded by Measure B, a $346.5 million bond measure passed by voters in the College of the Desert Community College District 10 years ago.
