Hazy conditions hover over Coachella Valley

A weak haboob, or dust storm, moved through the Coachella Valley Monday morning. Haboobs often occur as a result of thunderstorms. Strong outflow from the storm creates gusty winds and blowing dust.

On Monday, the east end of the valley saw wind gusts exceeding 40 mph. In Palm Springs, winds gusted up to 30 mph.

The South Coast Air Quality Management did issue a Dust Advisory.Air quality will be in the unhealthy for sensitive groups range, meaning the very young, very old or people withrespiratory problems or heart disease. Conditions are expected to improve Monday afternoon.
