Raymundo Garcia convicted in murder of woman found in Coachella cornfield
A jury found 29-year old Raymundo Garcia Vasquez guilty Monday of first degree murder in the death of a 19-year old woman whose body was found in a remote Coachella cornfield.
Jurors deliberated just under a day before reaching the verdict nearly four years to the day after Karina Sepulveda was reported missing.
Vasquez claimed Karina Sepulveda asked him for money to buy a car and he refused.
The Mexican National also said he was beaten and when he woke-up both he and Sepulveda were bleeding.
Prosecutors say Vasquez killed Sepulveda because he believed she set him up.
Vasquez faces up to 25 years in prison when he’s sentenced on May 22nd.
