2nd man arrested for robbing Indio Chevron station
A second man has been arrested on suspicion of robbing a Chevron gas station in Indio on May 13. Officers said they were able to track down the suspect after receiving some help from the public.
The gas station, located at 82003 Hwy 111 near Monroe Street, was robbed at gunpoint by two men just before 5 a.m. Officers said the robbers took an unknown amount of cash and several lottery scratch tickets.
Nobody was injured during the robbery. Surveillance video of the robbery was released soon after.
Orlando Santillanes, a 22-year-old Indio resident, was arrested on Saturday at a home on Vargas Road. According to a release from the Indio Police Department, detectives found corroborating evidence to an anonymous tip that was reported to Valley Crime Stoppers which linked Santillanes to the robbery.
The first arrest came on May 18, just five days after the robbery, when officers took 23-year-old Indio resident Raymond Rodriguez into custody at his apartment. Officers said the investigation lead to several leads and the public also provided helpful information in leading to his arrest.
Both men were booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
