Car crashes into hydrant, flooding Eisenhower Drive in La Quinta

Officials warned drivers to avoid Eisenhower Drive between Washington Street and Avenue 50 in La Quinta after a car crashed into a fire hydrant and flooded the roadway Monday morning.

The sheriff’s department said the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Eisenhower Drive and Washington Street. The driver of the car slammed into the fire hydrant but wasn’t injured in the crash.

One viewer told KESQ and CBS Local 2 the whole road was flooded.

Police and utility crews are on scene. It’s unclear how long the road will be shut down. We’ll post updates as soon as Eisenhower Drive reopens in the area.
