Man identified in deadly DHS mobile home fire

Authorities released the identity of the man who died in a mobile home fire in Desert Hot Springs last Friday.

Juan Torres, 63, died after the fire completely destroyed his mobile home, located at 15200 Palm Drive in the Whispering Sands Mobile Home Park. Officials were called to the fire at about 2:20 p.m.

Firefighters arrived to find the home completely engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Southbound Palm Drive was closed to traffic at Camino Campanero while firefighters cleared the scene. No other mobile homes were damaged in the fire, according to officials with Cal Fire.
