Sheriff’s Department holds event to help find missing people
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has announced an event next month that they hope will help solve some of the County’s missing persons cases.
On July 9th, at the Riverside County Coroner’s Office in Perris, families with missing loved ones are invited to come out and make connections with law enforcement and other families that are also trying to find answers on the status of their missing loved ones.
“Family and friends affected by the unsolved disappearance of a loved-one should plan to attend,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “They can make connections with local law enforcement and agencies dedicated to finding persons, that could help bring a missing person home.”
Deputies and others will be available to discuss individual cases, take a missing persons report and collect evidence that may aid in an investigation, including photographs, dental X-rays and relevant documents, sheriff’s officials said.
Forensic technicians will also be on hand to take cheek-swabs from relatives, which provide a simple means of capturing DNA for comparative analysis.
Additionally, technicians will make child ID kits for anyone who wants them. Sheriff’s officials encouraged people to make appointments ahead of time if they wish to meet with investigators and file a report.
The July 9th event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coroner’s Bureau, which is located at 800 Redlands Blvd. Participants will be welcome to wear commemorative T-shirts and bring signs bearing their loved-one’s images, according to organizers.
