Downtown Palm Springs set for grand opening of West Elm
Downtown Palm Springs is set for the grand opening of West Elm, a popular furniture retailer that launched in Brooklyn, NY in 2002. KESQ’s Bianca Rae is downtown on Wednesday to get a preview of the new store a day ahead of the opening.
Shoppers will get their first chance to check out downtown Palm Springs’ new anchor store on Thursday, September 1 at 10 a.m.
The opening date was announced in a flier which was distributed by West Elm.
In a report last month, Palm Springs City Manager David Ready also said the 155-room Kimpton Hotel and Rooftop Bar was expected to open in February 2017.
“A selection of goods from 18 local makers from Palm Springs and throughout California,” West Elm spokesperson Nicole Sutliff told CBS Local 2 and KESQ. “It will also have a signature Design Lab featuring complimentary design services.”
Sutliff said 30 positions will be created with the opening of West Elm.
West Elm is part of the Williams Sonoma brand, and has more than 65 retail locations in the US, the UK, Australia and Canada.
