Injured hiker rescued after falling at Joshua Tree National Park

A hiker is recovering after suffering serious injuries from falling 30 feet at Joshua Tree National Park.

Officials said 26-year-old Colin Campbell fell around 11 a.m. Sunday after rock climbing in an area called Jumbo Rocks at the park.

San Bernardino County Fire crews had to perform a hoist rescue.

Campbell was found several hundred yards from the nearest road, and in steep and rocky terrain.

A county air rescue flew Campbell to Desert Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

His condition is unknown at this time.
