Wyoming man rescued at Joshua Tree National Park

A Wyoming man is recovering tonight after being rescued in an area of Joshua Tree National Park Saturday.

San Bernardino County Fire crews responded to the Hidden Valley area of the park, where they discovered 69-year-old Tom Hurgis had fallen close to 25 feet while rock climbing.

The man landed on a rock ledge and wasn’t able to move.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department air crews were called in to help with the rescue.

Hurgis was flown to a nearby waiting ambulance where he was then taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
