Boil water advisory issued for Joshua Tree residents

Joshua Tree residents are being advised to boil tap water for drinking and cooking purposes.

The Joshua Basin Water District said the issue was caused by a mainline water break on Center and Dixie Roads

Residents are being warned that not boiling tap water could result in stomach or intestinal illness.

Officials advise letting water boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiling water kills bacteria and other organisms in the water, it is the preferred method to assure that the water is safe to drink.

Portable water will be available at Joshua Basin Water District’s building on 61750 Chollita Rd., Joshua Tree, CA 92252. Residents are asked to bring a clean water container (5 gallons maximum capacity).

The advisory will remain in place until further notice.
