UPDATE: Power restored to several desert cities after outages
UPDATE 3:
Southern California Edison are still trying to determine the cause of an outage that affected thousands of valley residents late this morning.
According to SCE, at 11:18 a.m. in the cities of Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs and Whitewater a total of 15,578 customers lost power. SCE says a majority of people got their power back around 11:34 a.m., and that all power was restored at 11:42 a.m.
The cause is still under investigation and SCE is not sure where the power problem initiated from.
UPDATE 2:
As of 12:44 p.m. 5,047 customers in Desert Hot Springs are without power.
According to SCE, the outage is in the area of Little Morongo Road and Dillon Road.
Most power will be back up by 3:19 p.m.

As of 12:08 p.m. Desert Hot Springs is experiencing only one outage, impacting 1,892 SCE customers.

According to Southern California Edison thousands of valley customers are without power.
The cities affected are Cathedral City, Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs.
The largest outage being reported in the Desert Hot Springs area, where the SCE outage page lists 3 separate outages, 1892 customers, 2116 customers, 1575 customers.
We are working to get more information from SCE on the cause of the outage.
Some residents have called stating that the area is very windy at this time.
