Desert Hot Springs police arrest robbery suspect
Desert Hot Springs Police officers arrested a suspect accused of an armed assault and robbery Saturday night.
Officers responded just before 8:30 p.m. to reports of an attempted armed robbery and assault with a firearm in the 14700 block of Palm Drive.
They said the victim told them Wally Durez, 57, loaded a handgun, demanded money and threatened to shoot the victim.
After the victim left the area, Durez returned to his home nearby where officers later arrested him.
Officers booked Durez into the Banning jail.
