Officer Joe Cook came up with the idea to have the patrol door of Officer Vega be a symbol of appreciation of the officers’ dedication. The door is being signed by officers in the department. It will be placed on the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. on Sunday for Police Week, but will have a permanent home in the National Law Enforcement Memorial to honor the officers.
Offices are expected to leave the Palm Springs International Airport on Thursday morning as they head to Washington, D.C. with the memorial door aboard the plane.
