PSPD honored with Community Heroes award

It was a “super” morning at Sunrise Park today. The Palm Springs’ Parks and Recreation Commission and United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire hosted “Heroes in the Park”. “And the heroes are our children with special needs, and we’ve added to that heroes designation by including our police officers, who do their work as heroes everyday,” said Greg Wetmore, President/CEO of United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire. Palm Springs Police Department’s Chief Bryan Reyes was honored with the “Commuinty Heroes” award. “I look at it as accepting an award on behalf of all those that serve palm springs. And we’re honored to do what we do everyday,” said Reyes. “This has been a really tragic week, the hardest week we’ve ever had in palm springs. And what you saw today was all the love and support we have as a community for each other and for our first responders,” said Palm springs Councilmember, Geoff Kors. And like no other in the Valley– “Palm Springs the city, is the first in the entire Coachella Valley to take that step forward to make a playground in which our kids with disabilities can actually enjoy, laugh, have fun, just like any other kid,” said Reyes. “We need to come together more often. It doesn’t need to be when bad things happen but when good things happen, so we can all come together and be strong, and this just shows you that Palm Springs is still together,” said Timothy Bradley, a professional American boxer.
