Groundbreaking ceremony held for Dream Hotel
The dream is becoming a reality in Palm Springs. Developers and city leaders celebrated a groundbreaking for the new Dream Hotel Palm Springs being built across the street from the convention center.

The hotel hotel will be four stories tall, have 169 rooms, 30 condos, two restaurants and two pools. It’s located on Amado Road, across from the Palm Springs Convention Center, which according to Mayor Robert Moon loses about $9 million a year.
“The convention center was built in 1974 and expanded in 2005. We have really needed a first-class hotel to help us bring in more business for the convention center,” Moon said.
The property also features a working farm to grow produce for the hotel’s restaurants. There is no word yet on how much the condos would cost, but they will come with high-end accommodations.
“If you live in one of the condos you can have room service, you can have the maid service you have access to all the amenities. It’s like living in a hotel,” said Lauri Kibby, principal partner and developer with Selene International.
Palm Springs City Council approves construction of Dream Hotel
The hotel sits on 8 acres. The design director, Darrell Long a partner with Hirsch Bender Associates, said it’s specifically designed to fit in with Palm Springs world renowned Modernism look.
“We don’t want the building to be contradictory to the mountains and the views and everything else in the area, so even though it is a pretty strong form, it’s actually pretty simple in it’s state,” Long said.
For neighbors closest to the construction, Kibby said they are installing window inserts to dampen the sound of heavy machinery.
The Dream Palm Springs is scheduled to be complete in December 2019.
