Upside down traffic signal installed in Palm Springs
UPDATE: The signal has been repaired. Marcus L. Fuller, the Assistant City Manager for Palm Springs, recently responded to a comment request, stating that a light technician had been dispatched shortly after the station’s initial message.
The light technician noted that the malfunction may have been due to vandalism. Prior to the repair, that particular signal was last inspected in December. The signals are checked every other month and vandalism has been a cause for concern in the past.

A pedestrian crossing signal at the corner of North Avenida Caballeros and East Racquet Club Road in Palm Springs isn’t a big fan of high-fives. The upside-down traffic signal has been in place at least since January 19th, when the above images were captured by a news team member.
The hardware is operational, but all messages are being displayed indecipherably, except when certain numbers, such as ‘6’ and ‘9,’ are shown.
