Funeral held for local veteran

Family and friends gathered Sunday for services for Cathedral City’s Jennifer Kepner. Kepner passed away Oct. 18 from pancreatic cancer that she blamed on burn pit exposure during her service in the Air Force in Iraq.

Rep. Raul Ruiz, M.D. spoke at the service at Forest Lawn in Cathedral City, promising to continue Kepner’s fight over the use of burn pits and getting help for other veterans who believe the pits are the cause of a number of illnesses.

News Channel 3’s John White reported on Kepner’s story in September in an I-Team investigation.

Kepner was 39-years old. She is survived by husband, Ban Kepner, daughter Adia, son Wyatt, parents Lisa and Robert Davis, sister and brother in law Chrstine and Rhett Arden.
