The family told officers they lost everything in the fire and only had a few household items. According to CCPD, upon learning of the family’s struggles, officers immediately gathered funds and purchased clothing, diapers, bedding, pillows, and toys for the two young boys. Firefighters gifted the family gift cards so they can buy groceries.
CCPD expressed thanks to everyone who helped provide some relief to the family.
Locally, there have been several efforts to collect donations and send them up to Northern California. A local 8th grader and her teacher collected donations of clothes, toiletries, and gift cards from the community. They packed up the donations nearly two weeks ago and drove up to the area to deliver them.
