Man killed in rollover crash near Cactus City rest area

A man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash near the Cactus City rest area this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 eastbound near the Frontage Road exit, exit 162.

Cal Fire pronounced the driver, a 46-year-old Fresno man, dead at the scene. There were no other passengers in the vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner , at the time of the collision.

There currently are no traffic delays on the freeway at this time, but as of 9:00 a.m., the scene was still cordoned off with caution tape.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have played a factor in the crash.

Last week, the California Department of Transportation announced that the Cactus City rest areas on I-10 would be shut down from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. over the ‘next several weeks’.
