Freedom Park in Palm Desert still flooded after storm

Parts of Freedom Park in Palm Desert are still underwater Thursday after flooding from Tropical Storm Hilary.

City crews were out working to pump out the water. Baseball fields are still unusable.

Some residents have expressed concerns about the risk of mosquitoes because of the standing water.

News Channel 3 spoke last week with Palm Desert city officials.

"We have our partners in Vector Control and Mosquito Control. They have been monitoring the situation, they've come by and inspected and they will continue to do so as long as the waters are here," said Martin Alvarez, the city's public works director.

City leaders also say they don't expect to have the park open for weeks.
