Disney unveils new home designs for Cotino community in Rancho Mirage

Disney shared a preview today of specific floorplans and designs for homes that will soon be available for purchase at Cotino in Rancho Mirage, the very first Storyliving by Disney community.

The all-new Cotino Sales Studio provided more details about the required pre-sales process prior to the initial sales launch in early 2024, which will include limited inventory from Shea Homes®, one of three homebuilders hired by Disney.

The initial sales launch will include a very limited inventory from Shea Homes with some in the Longtable Park residences for adults 55+. Additional home sites and builders will be introduced in phases through a thoughtful development approach as the community expands.

“Today marks an important next step toward fulfilling our vision for Storyliving by Disney as we bring our company’s legacy of placemaking, attention to detail and guest service to life like never before,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses. “The Cotino community will celebrate everything Walt Disney loved about this valley – stunning landscape, rich history, friendly neighbors and a rejuvenating spirit – all while adding extra touches of magic only Disney can deliver. We can’t wait for residents to experience this special place where they will be inspired to live their very best lives.”

The Cotino Sales Studio has been specifically designed to take guests on a journey that mirrors the Walt Disney Imagineering design process for the Cotino community, starting with the inspiration and story then moving to concept design and planning all the way through construction.

Beyond beautiful homes, Cotino community will offer a voluntary Artisan Club with an array of amenities and special experiences infused with Disney touches and legendary service.

The Artisan Club will include a restaurant, pool, pickleball and tennis courts, and waterfront bar and activity area. The club will be located along Cotino Bay, which will feature the clearest turquoise waters with Crystal Lagoons® technology, where members will be able to enjoy the bay with access to kayaks and paddle boards.

The club will also be home to the one-of-a-kind Parr House. Designed to look like the Parr family home in Disney and Pixar’s “Incredibles 2,” the multi-functional space will be available for members to attend club-hosted events.

Initially, Artisan Club memberships will only be available to Cotino community homeowners for a one-time fee of $20,000, plus annual dues of $11,000. A limited number of non-resident memberships may be available in the future. Select virtual programming is anticipated to start in 2024 with in-person activities to begin when the Artisan Club opens, which is expected in 2025.

Cotino also features plans for the community’s town center which will also be home to a professionally managed beach park, known as Cotino Bay Beach, where guests can swim, kayak and more with the purchase of admission. The town center is expected to open in phases beginning in 2026.

In April 2022, during the groundbreaking ceremony, Disney officials said that homes in Cotino will begin to sell this year, with the first people being able to move in by 2024.

Requests for pre-sales appointments both virtually and in-person at the Cotino sales studio can be made by visiting the Story of Cotino website. Appointments are available now through Jan. 9, 2024 prior to the start of home sales in early 2024. The on-site Cotino sales studio is open for in-person meetings by appointment only.

What is Cotino?

Cotino is the first planned community from Storyliving by Disney.

Cotino is described by developers as "a dynamic, creative oasis set within the stunning landscape of Palm Springs." The development plans to bring "Disney magic" to a new neighborhood in Rancho Mirage.

Alongside private homes, there will be a hotel, entertainment, shopping, and dining. It's all planned to surround a 24-acre lagoon. There will even be a neighborhood specially designed for adults 55 and older.

In the past, the reaction from local residents has been split. Some have voiced concerns about traffic, water usage, and the affect on affordable housing. Others have shared excitement for the development.

In March 2023, Cotino shared the first renderings of the "Parr House," a distinct location inspired by the midcentury home of the famous family of superheroes in Disney and Pixar’s "Incredibles 2."

Separate from the private clubhouse, there will be a beach park, accessible to the public with the purchase of a day pass.
