SKY VALLEY, Calif. (KESQ) - Two people were killed following a head-on crash that sparked a vehicle fire along Dillon Road Tuesday afternoon in Sky Valley. A person has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The crash was first reported just after 3:30 p.m. on Dillon Road near Lamel Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Dodge Charger traveling westbound on Dillion Road crossed over the double yellow lines and struck a Chevrolet Corvette head-on. Both vehicles involved in the crash were fully engulfed in flames.

Two occupants in a Chevrolet Corvette were pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner's office partially identified them as a 38-year-old man and a 63-year-old man.

A CAL FIRE spokesperson told News Channel 3 that a third person was injured and taken to the hospital.

On Wednesday, police said the driver of the Dodge Charger was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Debris clean up from the crash kept Dillon Road shut down in both directions from Lamel Drive to Thousand Palms Canyon Road until 8:30 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing.
