Twentynine Palms Marine Base seeing good progress in handling coronavirus
Around two weeks ago, Brigadier General Roger Turner Jr. announced that there were two coronavirus cases on base. A Marine and child tested positive for coronavirus. Several people who may have been exposed were placed into isolation as well.

To prevent any continued spread, base leaders implement precautionary measures under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and a 30 mile limit for essential travel.
However, Turner says thanks to the hard work by everyone at the base to follow safety guidelines, the number of cases has not grown.
"We're seeing good results," Turner said.
Turner added that they still have not had to hospital anyone due to coronavirus.
The people who were identified as possibly being infected are also coming up on their two weeks. Turner says some of those people are able to leave isolation and rejoin their families or units.
Despite the good news, Turner says the base will continue to be on guard, working to prevent any continued spread of the virus.
"We still need to assume that the people we interact with on the base could be positive and could be transmitting the disease. So, really the intentionality of our actions is really going to be critical to our success going forward," Turner said.
