Oscar Ortiz discusses decision to run for Congress in 2024

As we've reported, Indio Mayor Oscar Ortiz has his sights set on a Congressional run come 2024.

Ortiz would be facing off against fellow Democrat current Representative Raul Ruiz for the 25th Congressional District.

Ortiz sat down with Telemundo anchor Hernan Quintas to share why he's decided to run.

"I'm really enjoying public service i think it's something that I'm very good at here in Indio," Ortiz said. "We know this is a very important position, not just for our district but for our entire country. And we believe that we have the right relationships here in the community, the right communication and community engagement with our community to be a great representative for this district and we're ready to bring that effort here to the city."

Ortiz said he will formally announce his campaign at Indio City Hall on Wednesday at Noon.
