Local baseball players take part in start of college season

For a lot of college baseball teams across the country, their season started over the weekend. With baseball being one of the strongest sports in the desert, some of those teams featured former local standouts.

"Opening weekend was great. I had a great time competing with my teammates and just being able to win the series was awesome," said Jordan Sprinkle, former Palm Desert standout and now freshman at UCSB.

Obviously there are different protocols and things we have to follow but have to credit our coaches for having us dialed in with that," said Sprinkle.

"You know, I gotta say, after a year of no competitive play, it's a huge blessing almost a sense of relief. After you get that first game out of the way after a whole year you know like it's been crazy," said Harrison Nation, former Shadow Hills baseball player and now sophomore at Colorado Christian.

Needless to say, it was great to see games played with some of our local players back on the field for the first time in a long time.
