A clearer and warmer Tuesday in the desert

We got a good amount of rain yesterday, especially for the desert! In fact, record-breaking rain for some places. Thermal has a new record for rainfall for January 22nd of 1 inch! The previous record was 0.25 inches set back in 2010. Cathedral City saw just over an inch and many valley cities, like Thousand Palms and Palm Desert, were not far behind, with 0.9 and 0.89 respectively.

Now that the low pressure system has passed and is moving to the east, we can look forward to clearer and warmer conditions today. Temperatures will peak near 70 as fewer clouds will lead to more sunlight reaching the surface. Temperatures will continue to warm this week thanks to high pressure.

We can look forward to warming temperatures throughout the rest of this week and even more warming as we head into the start of next week. Generally clear conditions are expected for the next few days as well.
