Excessive heat warning extended through Thursday

The Excessive Heat Warning will be with us a little longer now as highs are expected to remain in the one-teens through Thursday.

The ridge of high pressure that has caused the heatwave remains in place, but will gradually shift eastward by the weekend as a trough moves in up North.

Today, like yesterday, we anticipate 113 for the high, with similar numbers through the week.

There is also a chance of thunderstorms popping up in our local mountains, but may also impact areas of the Coachella Valley through the afternoon.

Gusty northwest winds arrive Friday, bringing dryer and slightly cooler conditions for the weekend, so expect a modicum of relief from the heat and humidity.
