Palm Springs doctor accused of sexual battery

A Palm Springs doctor accused of sexual batteryagainst an 18-year-old female volunteer at the clinic where he worked wasreleased on bail today.

Daniel Glywn Walters, 66, was arrested about noon Thursday at his placeof employment, SleepWise Sleep and Behavioral Medicine Center at 1801 E.Tahquitz Canyon Way, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

He posted a $3,500 bond at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility inBanning today, according to jail records, which show he has a May 2 court dateat the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

The young woman, whose name was withheld, contacted police to allegethat Walters had “committed sexual battery upon her” on Tuesday and Wednesdaywhile she volunteered as an extern at SleepWise, according to a policestatement.

She started volunteering at the center on Monday, police said.
