One alleged drunken driver was arrested during an overnight sobriety checkpoint sheriff’s deputies set up in Indian Wells, a sergeant said Sunday.
The operation began at 8 p.m. Saturday and ended at 3 a.m. Sunday at Highway 111 and Mountain Cove Drive.
A total of 1,408 vehicles were driven through the checkpoint, 813 of them were screened, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Sherman said.
One driver was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving. Eleven other drivers were cited for being unlicensed or driving with a suspended license, Sherman said.
