Watch out for Bighorn Sheep crossing Highway 74

Bighorn Sheep are being spotted more frequently around the desert. They’re on golf courses and many drivers are seeing them up on Highway 74. Mating season is underway, meaning a large presence of bighorn sheep are out and about. Today the California Highway Patrol was called to the scene where a car allegedly hit a sheep on Highway 74 near Vista Point. Officials were not able to find an injured sheep near the reported crash site. While our camera were rolling we spotted four un-injured sheep around the area. The City of Palm Desert moved one of the Bighorn Crossing signs a little more out into the open. Officials from the Bighorn Institute say during breeding season, Bighorn Sheep cross over Highway 74 more often than any other time of the year.
