14-year-old arrested for robbing ice cream man at gun-point
The Coachella Police Department arrested a 14-year-old after an ice cream man was held up with a rifle Thursday night. The robbery happened around 7:21 p.m. at the intersection of Monarch Road and Manhatten Avenue in Coachella, according to police.
The victim had been selling ice cream from his truck in the neighborhood.
Investigators said two male suspects came up to the ice cream truck. When the victim was selling ice cream to one of the suspects, the other suspect approached him from behind with a rifle and demanded money.
The ice cream man wasn’t injured but the two suspects made off with a small amount of cash, according to a release from the Coachella Police Department.
During the investigation, officers were able to identify one of the suspects as a 14-year-old Hispanic boy. They found him at his house and arrested him for armed robbery.
Officers are still searching for the second suspect.
