Students enjoy snow in the desert

Desert Christian Academy is in the holiday spirit.

Friday their Watch D.O.G.S program hosted their annual snow day for students.

Students from preschool through 5th grade joined the fun.

There were plenty of Christmas activities going on from sledding to hot chocolate and more than 3,000 pounds of ice were brought in to make the snow hill.

The program wants to give students the opportunity to experience snow which is a treat here in the desert.

“This is the Friday before Christmas vacation, so every year we do this snow day. We bring in a ton of ice and grind it up into snow and create this hill. Kids get to just tube on it all day it’s a lot of fun. We give them hot chocolate, they eat all the wrong stuff today but it’s the day the Watch DOGS come and just have fun with the kids,” said parent Kim Harrell.

Watch DOGS is a Chrisitian program that works to support education and safety.
