Mayor of Lake Elsinore releases statement about his arrest
The mayor of Lake Elsinore, T’O Brian Tisdale, was arrested on Monday for misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor vandalism. Riverside County Third District Supervisor Chuck Washington confirmed Tisdale was placed on administrative leave Tuesday afternoon.
According to jail records, Tisdale was arrested by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in Applewood Lake Elsinore 92530, and has since been released from the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on $5,000 bail.
Chuck Washington released the following statement about the incident on Tuesday:
On Monday afternoon (6/20) I initiated action to place my staff member, Brian Tisdale, on administrative leave as a result of his arrest by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies for an incident occurring early Monday morning. This matter will now be handled by the justice system and the county Human Resources Department.
KESQ and CBS Local 2 reached out to the City of Lake Elsinore about the mayor’s arrest, but officials said out of respect of those involved, the city has no comment. However, Nicole Dailey, Senior Management Analyst for the City provided a statement she said came from Tisdale Tuesday afternoon.
It is with great sadness that I share the following statement:
On Monday, June 20, 2016, I was taken into custody by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at my home in Lake Elsinore due to a dispute between my wife and I. I was taken to the Riverside County Southwest Detention Center where I was booked and later released.
While I am unable to talk about the details of this event at this point in the legal process, I am releasing this statement out of respect for my family, friends, and community. Know, that at the appropriate time, I will avail myself to the community and media to fully explain the events of June 20, 2016 and take full accountability for my actions. I apologize to all of those who have, or will be impacted, particularly my children.
Effective immediately, I will be taking a leave of absence from my roles in public service with the City of Lake Elsinore and the County of Riverside to provide my family and I time to address personal issues that require our full attention.
I am requesting, out of respect for my two school-aged children, that the media and community respect our privacy during this difficult time so that we may appropriately reflect upon and address these private matters. I urge my colleagues on the City Council and the community to continue the positive momentum to build a better, healthier and vibrant City of Lake Elsinore.
Respectfully,
Brian Tisdale
