Boy hospitalized after being found at bottom of Palm Desert pool

A young boy was expected to survive after family members found him at the bottom of a pool at a Palm Desert home Tuesday.

County fire crews responded at 2:26 p.m. to a home in the 76000 block of Florida Avenue, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

A family member pulled the boy out of the pool before firefighters arrived, Newman said.

The child was alert and stable as firefighters were taking him to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, Newman said.

His age was not disclosed.
